Junell L. McCall

Junell L. McCall is Chief Learning Officer of JLM Educational Consulting Services, Inc., She holds two master’s degrees; one in Instructional Technology and one in Educational Leadership as well as a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Curriculum Studies where she is conducting research on the effect of digital game-based learning on students’ self-efficacy to complete data visualization tasks. She believes that you cannot be what you cannot see and is a proponent of immersive learning experiences. Ms. McCall has received certifications in the Gamification of Learning, Reiss Motivation Profile, and as a Global Career Facilitator. She is the Principal Investigator for the Gordon Research Conference Visionary Award/NASA where she designed a gamified immersive learning experience using storytelling that prepares students for the workforce in the data economy. She also co-created a time-management digital game that focuses on data visualizations as well. In her roles, she uses metacognitive strategies to design and implement student-centered learning experiences surrounding career competencies that lead to increased student self-efficacy for career and academic planning. She has designed learning experiences for the Office of Career Services entitled the “Junior and Senior Wake-Up Workshop: Preparation for Life After B-CU” and “Intern, It’s Your Turn Internship Mentoring Program,” both of which have yielded positive outcomes for students. She specializes in employer relations and works closely with companies such as Volusia County Public Schools, Lee County Public Schools, PwC, NASA, Citi, and Enterprise. Within the Detroit Public Schools of Choice System, Ms. McCall worked in previous capacities for five years as both a K-12 educator where she served as an Elementary School Teacher and Special Education Assistant in a self-contained classroom. The role as a Special Education Assistant involved her differentiating instruction and assisting a collaborative team of educators, behavioral psychologists and speech-language pathologists (SLP) in the creation and implementation of individual educational plans (IEP) for students. This experience developed her desire to design learning experiences and curriculum.
