Rasha Morsi, PhD
Dr. Rasha Morsi is a professor, graduate program coordinator, and founding director of the Creative Gaming and Simulation (CGS) lab in the Department of Computer Science at Norfolk State University (NSU).
She is an exceptional scholar with extensive research experience in the areas of Modeling, Simulation, Visualization, and Training Technologies (MSV&TT) design and development, gamification, and humanoid robotics. Her unique and exemplary experience as a teacher, scholar, and software developer has afforded her the means to design and lead several cutting-edge, award-winning projects, which include mobile and PC-based serious games and interactive tools for K-16, professional, and medical education and training. Her innovation in this field has earned her the Governor of VA’s prestigious SCHEV Outstanding Faculty Award among a slew of other local and national honors and awards.
Dr. Morsi has 41 publications and 140 keynote, invited speaker, and/or panelist presentations at conferences, professional meetings, and/or workshops.
Panel: AI Hardcoded Bias: UX, AI, and the Human Cost of Design
The future is adaptive, but not always equitable. This panel examines how algorithmic systems in healthcare, education, and the workplace often reinforce gendered assumptions, quietly shaping who benefits, who is seen, and who is left out.
Drawing on perspectives from learning design, technology, and behavioral science, panelists explore how gamification, AI-driven personalization, and behavior design can be used intentionally to challenge bias rather than encode it. The discussion focuses on practical choices designers and leaders can make to surface assumptions, test for unintended impact, and build systems that support inclusion instead of narrowing opportunity.
Takeaway: Adaptive systems shape behavior. Inclusive systems shape possibility.
