Josh Yavelberg, PhD

Josh Yavelberg, PhD, is an innovation navigator, educator, and designer who helps organizations rethink how people learn, collaborate, and create. With a background in studio art, human-centered design, and learning science, Josh designs gameful, adaptive experiences that make experimentation safe, purposeful, and meaningful. He is the creator of the Be AI-gile framework, an approach that blends rapid prototyping, reflective practice, and human–AI partnership to help teams move from tension to insight with confidence.

As founder of Flying Cloud Solutions, Josh works across higher education, associations, government, and global learning communities to build systems that are learner-led, learner-held, and grounded in evidence. Known for immersive, hands-on conference sessions, he invites participants to explore complex challenges through play, test ideas lightly, iterate boldly, and design learning futures with intention.

The Clockwork Prototype Lab: Gamifying Be AI-gile

This session drops participants into the Clockwork Prototype Lab, a steampunk-inspired design bay where learning happens by doing. Guided by Josh Yavelberg, participants experience the Be AI-gile framework by playing through it rather than hearing about it. This is a hands-on, gamified prototype-building experience that treats experimentation as the work, not the outcome.

Working in cross-border teams, participants receive a playful “challenge capsule” that sets the design problem in motion. Using rapid cycles of prototyping, reflection, and human–AI collaboration, teams explore how to move from ambiguity to insight with speed and intention. The focus is on making experimentation safe, productive, and energizing, especially when complexity and uncertainty are high.

Takeaway: When prototyping feels like play, teams move faster, think deeper, and learn without fear.
