His simple yet powerful system has inspired educators, trainers, facilitators, writers, therapists, and game designers around the globe to unlock imagination through pattern recognition, sense making and storytelling.

Sowing Seeds with Story Cubes

Some of your best ideas appear when you stop trying so hard to find them. 

After a full day of designing and building, join your fellow GamiCon ATX participants for an evening dedicated to creativity, conversation, and play at Emerald Tavern Games & Café, Austin's original game café.

Taking a relaxed, collaborative approach, Rory will share the origins of Rory’s Story Cubes as a creative problem solving tool before guiding participants through just a few of the many ways he and others use them as a facilitation aid. Discover how they can improve the quality of group introductions, support learning self-reflection and to draw out fresh insight on areas where you are stuck. And if you have a special tip for using Rory’s Story Cubes you’d like to share, you are more than welcome! This evening invites you to experiment, laugh, collaborate, and let your imagination wander.

Your registration includes appetizers and drink tickets during the evening program. You're welcome to arrive early and enjoy dinner from Emerald Tavern's scratch kitchen before the program begins. Following the session, you'll also have complimentary access to Emerald Tavern's extensive library of board and hobby games. Continue playing, connecting, and sharing ideas until the café closes at 11:00 p.m.

You'll return on Day Two with fresh perspectives, renewed creative energy, and new ideas to strengthen your learning experience.

Rather than relying on AI, you'll rediscover the power of imagination, conversation, and collaborative storytelling. Many participants find that stepping away from technology for a few hours helps generate ideas they later develop using AI during Day Two.
